The Town of Ponce Inlet continues to closely monitor this situation. We will continue to update our website and social media pages with updates regarding impacts to our community as this situation evolves.

From the Town Manager:

Effective midnight May 31st, 2020, the Town of Ponce Inlet’s state of emergency declaration will end.  On June 1, Town facilities will reopen with public occupancy limitations posted at each.  Normal operating hours and the availability of all amenities in the Town’s parks will resume on June 1st.  Orders issued under the federal, state, and county continue to apply as they relate to Ponce Inlet.  The Town continues to support adherence with CDC guidelines for 6 foot social distancing, no groups larger than 10, masks in situations where social distancing cannot be obtained, and frequent thorough hand hygiene.  Thank you for your cooperation.

Relaunch Volusia Small Business Reopening Grant Program approved by County Council Tuesday, May 12, 2020!

The County of Volusia is allocating up to $10 million in emergency relief to support local businesses with a commercial presence within the County who have been negatively impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic. Funds are available as part of the Coronavirus Aids, Relief, and Economic Security  ("CARES") Act federal stimulus package. As  a part of that relief, the County is offering emergency financial support through the Relaunch Volusia: Small Business Reopening Grant Program on a first come first serve basis.

Qualifying businesses may be eligible to receive a one-time Reopening Grant Program grant of $3,000 to help them recover from the negative financial consequences resulting from the COVID-19 pandemic and relaunch their Volusia County business.

The grant application will be live on Thursday, May 14 at 9:00 a.m. on https://www.volusiabusinessresources.com/#homeSection348662 under County Resources.


TOWN OF PONCE INLET 

EMERGENCY DIRECTIVE 2020-04

Effective May 4, 2020 at 12:01 A.M.

As Town Manager of the Town of Ponce Inlet, Volusia County, Florida, and pursuant to the authority vested in me as Emergency Management Director under Chapter 26 of the Town of Ponce Inlet Code of Ordinances (the “Code”), the Mayor having declared a state of emergency within the Town by executive order dated March 16, 2020 (the “Declaration”) and subsequent weekly extensions, due to the worldwide COVID-19 pandemic, I HEREBY ORDER and PROMULGATE this Emergency Directive:

This directive supersedes all previous directives issued by the Ponce Inlet Town Manager.

Courts for pickleball, tennis, and racquetball shall be open for use each day from 8:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m.

Basketball courts shall remain closed at this time.

Playgrounds shall remain closed at this time.

CDC guidelines will continue to be enforced to include:

gatherings shall be limited to no more than ten (10) persons in a group, and

persons gathering within a park shall maintain a distance of at least six (6) feet from one another - unless the other persons are related, living under the same roof or are otherwise regularly in close contact with one another.

Contact sports are prohibited within Town parks.

All public restroom facilities within Town parks shall be open for use. 

Note: while they will be cleaned more frequently, the use of public restrooms is highly cautioned.  When using such, individuals are encouraged to take their own precautionary measures to insure their well-being.

All water fountains at Town facilities shall be bagged to discourage use until further notice.  Regardless of the visibility of a bag, should it be unlawfully removed, individuals are strongly encouraged NOT to use public water fountains at this time.

Personal responsibility should continue to be used when touching any public amenities (gate handles, door handles, benches, dog waste receptacles, crosswalk flags,…)

The above emergency measures shall be effective beginning May 4th, 2020 at 12:01 A.M. and shall be effective until further notice.

Pursuant to Sections 26-43 and 1-11 of the Code, violation of this Directive is unlawful and shall be punishable by noncriminal prosecution, criminal prosecution, code enforcement board prosecution or by other civil action at the Town’s discretion.

A copy of this Directive shall be filed with the Town Clerk and concurrently posted prominently upon the Town Hall.  The Town Clerk shall provide copies of this Directive to print and electronic news media and all appropriate law enforcement officers and government officials.
