LATEST INFORMATION ON CORONAVIRUS (COVID-19)

The Town of Ponce Inlet continues to closely monitor this situation. We will continue to update our website and social media pages with updates regarding impacts to our community as this situation evolves.

Town of Ponce Inlet Emergency Directive 2020-03  Effective March 24, 2020 

As Town Manager of the Town of Ponce Inlet, Volusia County, Florida, and pursuant to the authority vested in me as Emergency Management Director under Chapter 26 of the Town of Ponce Inlet Code of Ordinances (the “Code”), the Mayor having declared a state of emergency within the Town by executive order dated March 16, 2020 (the “Declaration”) due to the worldwide COVID-19 pandemic, I HEREBY ORDER and PROMULGATE this Emergency Directive:

In addition to the previously issued directive described below, all courts within Pollard Park are closed until further notice.  The open air parks themselves remain available for walking & running but residents should exercise personal responsibility when touching any public amenities (benches, dog waste receptacles, crosswalk flags,...).

The following directive continues to apply:

Parties accessing the parks within the Town of Ponce Inlet shall limit their gatherings to no more than ten (10) persons.

Persons gathering within a park are strongly encouraged to maintain a distance of at least six (6) feet from all other persons within the park unless the other persons are related, living under the same roof or are otherwise regularly in close contact with one another.

Contact sports, including basketball, are prohibited within Town parks (however individuals may continue to shoot hoops on the basketball court).

All public restroom facilities within Town parks shall be closed until further notice.

All water fountains at Town facilities shall be bagged to prevent use until further notice.

All playgrounds within Town parks are closed to prevent use until further notice.

The above emergency measures shall be effective beginning March 24, 2020 at 2:00 P.M. and shall be effective for the duration of the Declaration, as the same may be extended under Section 26-38 of the Code.

Pursuant to Sections 26-43 and 1-11 of the Code, violation of this Directive is unlawful and shall be punishable by noncriminal prosecution, criminal prosecution, code enforcement board prosecution or by other civil action at the Town’s discretion.

A copy of this Directive shall be filed with the Town Clerk and concurrently posted prominently upon the Town Hall.  The Town Clerk shall provide copies of this Directive to print and electronic news media and all appropriate law enforcement officers and government officials.

In light of concerns regarding the transmittal of COVID-19, effective immediately, the lobbies in town hall, public works, and the fire department are closed to customers.  The police department lobby will accept one person at a time.  Instructions for conducting transactions are posted on the door of each facility, which include drop boxes, phone calls for information or credit card payments, or instructions for online or email access to information normally conducted inside the facilities.  Thank you for your understanding as we seek to ensure our employees remain healthy to continue to serve you and that our lobbies do not become hazardous for customers.
