Ponce Inlet Sign

Effective May 4, 2020 at 12:01 A.M.

As Town Manager of the Town of Ponce Inlet, Volusia County, Florida, and pursuant to the authority vested in me as Emergency Management Director under Chapter 26 of the Town of Ponce Inlet Code of Ordinances (the “Code”), the Mayor having declared a state of emergency within the Town by executive order dated March 16, 2020 (the “Declaration”) and subsequent weekly extensions, due to the worldwide COVID-19 pandemic, I HEREBY ORDER and PROMULGATE this Emergency Directive:

This directive supersedes all previous directives issued by the Ponce Inlet Town Manager.

Courts for pickleball, tennis, and racquetball shall be open for use each day from 8:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m.

Basketball courts shall remain closed at this time.

Playgrounds shall remain closed at this time.

CDC guidelines will continue to be enforced to include:

gatherings shall be limited to no more than ten (10) persons in a group, and

persons gathering within a park shall maintain a distance of at least six (6) feet from one another - unless the other persons are related, living under the same roof or are otherwise regularly in close contact with one another.

Contact sports are prohibited within Town parks.

All public restroom facilities within Town parks shall be open for use.

Note: while they will be cleaned more frequently, the use of public restrooms is highly cautioned.  When using such, individuals are encouraged to take their own precautionary measures to insure their well-being.

All water fountains at Town facilities shall be bagged to discourage use until further notice.  Regardless of the visibility of a bag, should it be unlawfully removed, individuals are strongly encouraged NOT to use public water fountains at this time.

Personal responsibility should continue to be used when touching any public amenities (gate handles, door handles, benches, dog waste receptacles, crosswalk flags,…)

The above emergency measures shall be effective beginning May 4th, 2020 at 12:01 A.M. and shall be effective until further notice.

Pursuant to Sections 26-43 and 1-11 of the Code, violation of this Directive is unlawful and shall be punishable by noncriminal prosecution, criminal prosecution, code enforcement board prosecution or by other civil action at the Town’s discretion.

A copy of this Directive shall be filed with the Town Clerk and concurrently posted prominently upon the Town Hall.  The Town Clerk shall provide copies of this Directive to print and electronic news media and all appropriate law enforcement officers and government officials.
